ESTS Course on Scientific Communication

In its further developments, ESTS school has launched a dedicated teaching track for academic competence.
We are delighted to announce that the second course on medical writing will take place at the European Surgical Institute in Hamburg,
Germany on 3 - 5 November 2014.
The panel of experts have recognised editorial and teaching experience.
The target audience is mainly young thoracic surgeons wishing to gain experience in medical writing, and possibly engaging in
preparation of a Master's or Doctor's degree. In order to keep the course interactive, with emphasis in group assignment, the delegates
will be limited to 16 persons.
The course is significantly sponsored to offer all a fair and equitable chance to attend; hence, the registration fee has been capped to
500 Euros which includes administrative fees, accommodation and catering for the duration of the course.

7th Itinerant ESTS Expert Courses
Laser Resection of Lung Metastases: 7 and 8 May 2015
VATS Lobectomy Anterior Approach: 18 and 19 May 2015
The two day courses will take place in Coswig/Dresden and Bristol with three participants each who will attend operative sessions:
Laser Resection of Lung Metastases with Prof Axel Rolle, Coswig/Dresden, Germany
VATS Lobectomy Anterior Approach with Mr Tim Batchelor, Bristol, UK
These courses are aimed at ESTS members established consultants predominantly devoting their clinical practice to general thoracic surgery.
The main purpose is to facilitate interaction and exchange of information among practicing thoracic surgeons about state of the art surgical procedures and management protocols.
We invite applications to the Itinerant ESTS Expert Courses. These educational grants are pen to everybody to apply; however, some rules will be used in selection of the applications.
Candidates who have the following criteria will have priority in the selection:
• ESTS member
• From “low middle income” countries in Europe according to the World Bank ranking system
• Predominant practice in general thoracic surgery
The grant will include:
• Operative sessions on Laser Resection of Lung Metastases or VATS Lobectomy Anterior Approach
• Free accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Transportation from hotel to hospital
• Certificate of attendance
The grant does not include:
• Travel expenses
• Social events
